The Government of Catalonia, through the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation, announces the 36th edition of the National Research Awards. The purpose of these awards is to promote and disseminate the international scientific activity of researchers linked to our country, as well as of organizations promoting knowledge transfer and public-private collaboration in research, sponsorship, science communication, and the creation of science-based companies.

The awards consist of the following six prizes:

1. National Research Award (senior researchers).
2. National Research Award for Young Talent (researchers up to 40 years old).
3. National Award for Knowledge Transfer and Innovation.
4. “Joan Guinovart y Cereza” National Award for Scientific Communication.
5. National Award for Patronage and Public-Private Scientific Collaboration.
6. National Award for the Creation of a Science-Based Company.

The National Research Award consists of an accreditation and a prize of 40,000 euros. The National Research Award for Young Talent includes the aforementioned award and a prize of 15,000 euros. The National Award for Knowledge Transfer and Innovation consists of the aforementioned award and a prize of 10,000 euros.

The “Joan Guinovart y Cereza” National Award for Scientific Communication, named in honor of the recently deceased famous Catalan biochemist and popularizer, incorporates the same award and, as a new feature, a prize of 10,000 euros. The remaining awards, without a cash prize, also include an accreditation.

Natural persons and/or legal entities, and in general, all stakeholders within the Catalan research and innovation system, are eligible for the National Research Awards. The call includes two individual categories and four institutional categories.

For this reason, we invite you to consider submitting any applications you consider appropriate for the awards. Applications must be submitted through the website www.fundaciorecerca.cat/pnr, where you will find all the necessary information and the guidelines for submitting a nomination for any of the National Research Awards categories.

The deadline for submitting applications is Monday, October 13, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
